A woman balances a high heel on her head, transforming a symbol of beauty and desirability into something strange and weighty. Removed from the foot, the shoe no longer signals elegance—it becomes a burden, like a crown of expectation. The gesture is both humorous and unsettling. Teetering above her, the heel suggests that femininity must be carefully performed and constantly upheld. By displacing this familiar object, the painting exposes the instability of gender ideals and questions why women are asked to carry them at all. Satire becomes a quiet act of resistance.
