Art is a coping mechanism and a passion for me. I am able to immerse myself in my projects and get away from the seemingly insurmountable challenges that I encounter. Time spent painting, drawing, and inking…these distance me from feelings of overwhelm and despair. Often, due to a variety of perceived flaws, I feel like I’m somehow simultaneously not enough and too much. When I am in a creative process, I think, as a friend says, “rightsized.”

Art is a powerful statement and a means of connection and communication. I don’t feel any art is “bad” or that some pieces are more memorable than others because we all have different strengths and challenges. My attributes, talents, and innate abilities are unique to me, and so is my art. This holds for everyone. I believe all art should be appreciated and valued.
