Waffles of the Wild West came to be because of a memorable road trip when my kids were vey young. The highlight of the whole trip was the waffle maker at our hotel in Amarillo. Waffles in the shape of Texas. So much so were these coveted, that the rest of the drive back to California, we had a slowly shriveling Texas Waffle on our dashboard.
