Louis XVI Acrylic Medallion Chair
Louis XVI Acrylic Medallion Chair

Acrylic and Charcoal on canvas frame
The Medallion chair in our studio draws inspiration from the classical heritage of Louis XVI styling, and is a modern adaptation made out of Acrylic. In this painting, I have placed our model, i.e., the "commoner", upon the chair reserved for nobility in the context of the 18th century French court. She is in a slouching position, which would have been a major breach of etiquette in itself. In the Versailles court, only royalty sat on chairs with arms in an upright, formal posture, not lounging. This painting represents a contrast between classical mores and modern artistic expression.
