Dia de las Madres
Dia de las Madres

Fourth in a series of four paintings: With this painting, I wanted to illustrate what I can only try to imagine, the nightmare of being a mother without a house and, as an immigrant, finding oneself without a country. The scene represents a family whose dream of America is in limbo. The daughter separated from the family unit (perhaps to be trafficked?), the father impotent of any power to help his family out, and the mother, trying to be everything to her infant son...his house, his bed, the nurturer and care giver, all the while having nothing herself.
