“The Gaze” represents my experience with scopophilia and the male gaze. Growing up, I often felt like a passive object. These perceptions were perpetuated by the media and how I saw women being portrayed on TV. This accentuates the experience of always being watched and observed as women. In the top left corner of the piece, you can see a woman looking straight into an eye placed in a man's mouth. This scene conveys the sense of men always having authority, as the figures aren’t at eye level.
