Vajanuary; Hey Womxn, Are We OK?

Happy New Year and welcome to our second annual Vajanuary show! Since Vajanuary 2025 many things have changed and not for the better so we asked Womxn to create about it. This is their time to shine, to be mad, to share how it feels being a Womxn presenting human in this day and age.

Opening January 9th, 2026

Very Superstitious

Join us in celebrating the art of Lena Rushing. Lena has spent the past two years creating this body of work, finding great pleasure in how new and experimental the process has been for her—both in material and in application. She hopes the work will spark intrigue and creativity in its viewers, and that those who say, “I can’t make art,” will see that it can be as simple as showing your insides on the outside. For Lena, pulling ideas from her thoughts and placing them onto paper, panel, or canvas is what keeps her well.

Opening February 6th, 2026 (ART AFTER DARK)
5pm-8pm

Barbara Louise Clark

Barbara Clark is a visual artist whose practice centers on the human experience and the representation of the body through a distinctly female lens. Based in San Luis Obispo, California, she holds a BA in Art with a minor in Art History from Channel Islands and is currently pursuing her MFA in Visual Arts at Vermont College of Fine Arts.

Her current body of work is a visual meditation on the ways in which women are edited, erased, and shaped by cultural expectations. Through layered compositions and emotionally charged figuration, Clark continues her ongoing inquiry into feminist embodiment, societal constraint, and the psychological residue of living in a world that often demands women perform rather than exist.

Looking For Light

We are so excited to show Jim apRoberts at The Bunker. Jim works as a visual artist on California's Central Coast.  His paintings are colorful, thoughtful, emotive depictions of nature, atmospheric environments and more.  He feels that the viewing experience is engaging when the paintings he creates are open ended and allow viewers to fill in meaning.  Jim's paintings reflect his respect for nature, as well as his life experiences.  Jim believes that "a painting has to have ideas brewing in it, just as a story needs a plot."  He works with a variety of themes and often times paints in series, zigzagging back and forth from one series to another.  He likes to say, "I know when a painting is complete, yet I rarely complete a series.”
